What is aramid 1414
1. What is aramid fiber?
Aramid fiber, fully known as "aromatic polyamide fiber", is a new high-tech synthetic fiber, which has excellent properties such as ultra-high strength, high modulus, high temperature resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and light weight. Aramid fiber is mainly divided into two types, para aramid fiber (PPTA) and meta aramid fiber (PMIA). PPTA fiber is also called aramid 1414, or "bulletproof fiber".
2. Basic properties of para aramid fiber
① Physical properties
The appearance of aramid fiber 1414 is golden yellow, which looks like shiny metal wire. In fact, it is a liquid crystal polymer composed of rigid long molecules. Because its molecular chains are highly oriented along the length direction and have strong inter chain adhesion, the fiber has unprecedented high strength, high modulus and high temperature resistance.
The discovery of aramid fiber 1414 is considered as an important milestone in the development of the material industry. Aramid 1414 has extremely high strength, more than 28g/denier, 5-6 times of high-quality steel, modulus 2-3 times of steel or glass fiber, toughness 2 times of steel, and weight only 1/5 of steel. (The strength and toughness of aramid 1414 also make it extremely difficult to cut and process, requiring expensive special tools).
② Chemical properties
The continuous use temperature range of aramid fiber 1414 is extremely wide, and it can operate normally for a long time in the range of - 196 ℃ to 204 ℃. The shrinkage rate is 0 at 150 ℃, and it does not decompose and melt at 560 ℃. The heat resistance is better than aramid 1313. It has good insulation and corrosion resistance, and a long life cycle, so it has won the reputation of "synthetic steel wire".
3. Practical application fields of para aramid fiber
① Military field
Aramid 1414 was first used in cutting-edge fields such as national defense and military industry. In order to meet the needs of modern war and anti-terrorism, aramid 1414 is widely used in bulletproof clothing, bulletproof helmets, stab and cut resistant clothing, explosive suits, high-intensity parachutes, bulletproof vehicle bodies, armor plates, etc. of the military and police of the United States, Russia, Britain, Germany, France, Israel, Italy and many other countries. In bulletproof clothing, aramid fiber has high strength, good toughness and good knitting property, which can absorb and disperse the energy of bullet impact to other fibers of the woven fabric to avoid "blunt injury", so the protective effect is significant. The lightening of aramid bulletproof clothing and helmet effectively improves the quick reaction ability and protection ability of the army.
② Aerospace
Now, in addition to the military field, aramid fiber 1414 has been widely used in various aspects of the national economy, such as aerospace, electromechanical, construction, automobile, marine aquatic products, sports goods and so on, as a high-tech fiber material. In aerospace, aramid fiber reinforced resin matrix composites are used as structural materials for aerospace, rockets and aircraft, which can reduce weight, increase effective load and save a lot of power fuel. For example, the shell, interior trim and seats of Boeing aircraft have successfully used aramid 1414 materials, reducing the weight by 30%.
③ Automobile field
Aramid 1414 is the most ideal cord fiber because of its small specific gravity, high strength, good heat resistance and good adhesion to rubber. The aramid cord can make the tire thinner, lighter, easier to dissipate heat, reduce deformation, reduce rolling resistance, improve high-speed running performance, prolong the service life of the tire, and greatly improve the puncture resistance. Its strong and tough characteristics enable the tire to drive to the repair shop without damaging the side of the tire after air leakage. Aramid 1414 is particularly suitable for use as reinforced tire cord for automobiles and aircraft with high speed driving or heavy load, and has a great development prospect. At present, Michelin, Goodyear, Pirelli and other major tire giants in the world have adopted aramid 1414 as tire cord, which is widely used in the field of high-end cars.
④ Civil construction
In terms of civil structural engineering, aramid fiber 1414 has the properties of light weight, high strength, high elastic modulus, corrosion resistance, non-conductive and impact resistance. It can be used to repair and reinforce bridges, columns, subways, chimneys, water towers, tunnels, electrified railways and seaports, especially for the reinforcement and repair of concrete structures.
⑤ Other areas
In addition, aramid 1414 can also be used as a framework material in inflatable rubber products (such as inflatable life rafts, inflatable pontoons, etc.), corrosion resistant containers, light oil tanks, and large diameter crude oil drainage and suction pipes; Used for making high temperature resistant and cutting resistant protective gloves; Its self-lubricating property, heat resistance and toughness can be used to replace asbestos with carcinogenic substances to make thermal insulation shield, protective clothing and sealing materials; It can also replace asbestos and glass fiber to reinforce resin and be used as friction resistant, thermal insulation and electrical insulation materials; Fabrication of ship ropes, submarine cables, radar buoy systems and optical fiber reinforced ropes; Manufacture high strength and low weight sports equipment, such as skis, rowboats and kayaks. In a word, aramid 1414 is a field of great strength and irreplaceable advantages in all occasions requiring high strength, tensile resistance, tear resistance, puncture resistance and high temperature resistance.
